Seoul Fashion Week was called off amid the coronavirus outbreak and moved to a digital platform. In recent years, Seoul has become a fashion capital in the world next to Paris, London and New York. Korean fashion brands like Blindness, Ader Error, Müun, and The Volon are becoming a common household name and establishing their presence in high-end stores in the west. Seoul Fashion Week 2021 is showcasing several emerging artists for the Autumn/Winter 2021 (AW21) but in a digital-only format.

Various shows in the SFW AW21 are being held in various places around the city of Seoul. The shows are streamed online through YouTube, Naver TV, and other channels. It is showcasing 43 designers and will hold online trade shows for buyers and other commerce events.

Seoul Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2021 is being held online from March 22 to March 27. The commerce shows will be from March 29 to April 9 through the Naver Shopping Live.

Seoul Collection

It will host 26 veteran fashion designers, and the shows will take place in different cultural places in Seoul. The National Museum of Korea, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, and Oil Tank Culture Park are the locations in Seoul where designers will showcase their works.

For six days, when it is usually the closing time for most museums at 6 p.m., things will start coming to life! And it’s not going to be a sequel to the 2006 fantasy comedy, “Night at the Museum”! You can enjoy the virtual fashion show in some of the best museums in Seoul.

Generation Next

This show will feature 17 emerging designers in five different locations near Han River and a Seoul studio.

Last year, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of the 2020 Autumn/Winter Seoul Fashion Week. The 2021 Spring/Summer event was another virtual event like the 2021 Autumn/Winter (Fall/Winter) show.

Although many Korean fashion brands prefer to opt for time-honored international platforms like London and Paris, several emerging artists are opting to showcase their collections in Seoul Fashion Week.

Emerging Artists Showcasing Works In Seoul Fashion Week

Here are three Korean fashion brands that you need to keep an eye out for during the Seoul Fashion Week 2021.

PAINTERS

Painters is all about alternative and divergent forms of beauty in fashion. Won Jeon launched the label in 2018 with the foundations based on the sense of individuality. It is something that’s totally the opposite of Seoul’s trend-focused scene.

Painters’ collections range from silhouette play to hand-mixed fabrics and voluminous proportions. There are loose threads and misshapen patterns that come together to create amorphous shapes. All the recognizable clothing like jeans and shirts are distorted and shredded with totally different silhouettes.

SEOKWOON YOON

Seokwoon Yoon started the namesake brand in New York in the year 2017. There are low hanging straps, structural wooden frames, and motif eyelets following the deconstruction philosophy of Korean fashion.

The last SS21 collection showcased sports fusion and broken-down tailoring.

KIMZISU

Kimzisu is a womenswear brand with asymmetric constructions and clashing fabrics. The collections feature irregular but silhouettes that are body conscious. Launched by Kim Ji-Soo in 2019, Kimzisu aims to bring together conflicting design principles into harmonious bodies.

There are uneven lengths, cinched waists, and oblique paneling. The Korean fashion brand uses faux leather that shows off the neat folds and integrated layers. They even sexed up the matronly dresses with full-body zips and off-center ruching.
